Sisters, and Co-Owners, alongside their family and small dedicated team of staff, opened The Kitchen in 2023.

Ashley, 23, and Samantha, 17, started this path together with nothing more than a dream and a small savings.

Only after completing a kitchen renovation, building their menu, ordering supplies, researching food sources, and a lengthy list of tasks did they open their first restaurant.

As lifelong Mainers and Limington locals, they integrated and wanted to build something the community needed and wanted: a diner offering sit-down full-service meals, at affordable prices, right in their small town.

How?

Hard work. Help. Dedication. Standing up 8 times when they fell 7.

Samantha was a waitress under the previous owner’s management. When they decided to close the doors, Samantha decided she was going to open them back up.

She had been making valuable and heartfelt connections with locals for months, and knew exactly the vision for The Kitchen.

Even if she was just 17, with a focal point and eagerness to get it done, she set up the lease to the restaurant at 13 Airport Drive, Limington, Maine, and had her sister co-sign, as she was still a minor.

Acquiring the building was just one step. Next, they had to figure out how to afford not only the lease for the next year, but also all the equipment to function in a kitchen. Nothing sort of everything is what they needed: plates, cups, silverware, waffle irons, a stove, a grill, prep stands, and refrigeration.

The family set to work. While one person scoured the marketplace for worthy equipment, the others filed paperwork to get all the licences needed and set up accounts.

Months went by filled with days of hauling equipment on trailers, tedious days at the lawyers, family Home Depot runs, interesting food tasting, and immense efforts to redo the concrete floor.

Every piece came together to what felt like a 100,000-piece puzzle, and The Kitchen opened on December 6th of 2023.
